Your tax dollars at work supporting the mentally absent:

GA congressman is afraid Guam will tip over

That admiral must have had the toughest job of his career not laughing at that idiot.

And people elected him. Good god.

I just learned about this from a Republican-heavy forum. (He's a Democrat, you know.)

SNL's gonna find him way too easy a target.

Both parties have their share of the mentally AWOL; it cannot be otherwise, since they reflect the majority of their constituents.

The South Dakota House of Representatives in February 2010 adopted a resolution, what to teach children on the subject of global warming. Here's the result (I'm skipping the preamble straight from the deniers handbook), emphasis and link added.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives of the Eightyfifth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, the Senate concurring therein, that the South Dakota Legislature urges that instruction in the public schools relating to global warming include the following:
  1. That global warming is a scientific theory rather than a proven fact;
  2. That there are a variety of climatological, meteorological, astrological, thermological, cosmological, and ecological dynamics that can effect world weather phenomena and that the significance and interrelativity of these factors is largely speculative; and
  3. That the debate on global warming has subsumed political and philosophical viewpoints which have complicated and prejudiced the scientific investigation of global warming phenomena;
Votes:
     | Yea | Nay | Excused
-----+-----+-----+---------
Dems |   2 |  22 |     0
Reps |  34 |   8 |     4
-----+-----+-----+---------
total|  36 |  30 |     4

Senate caught it, gutted the whole text and now "only" calls for balance. The different versions are here:

P.S.: That GA congressman takes the biscuit by miles. I've always thought, that you only tip the waitress/waiter and cows. Now it's islands. Kudos to that Admiral for keeping a straight face and a professional tone in the face of an unbelievable, earthshaking level of stupidity on display. I can only hope, Johnson was smoking something, because that would be a benign explanation. Damning, but benign.
