Must be nice.

If you're rich enough, you can run someone over, and the DA will call it a misdemeanor.  After all, if the guy had to admit to a felony, it could affect his business.  The surgeon he hit is going to be in pain, and probably unable to practice, for the rest of his life, but he doesn't live in the state, so no biggie.

It's almost as good as being able to shoot someone and make him claim it was his fault.

How much money or what one does for a living should have no affect on criminal charges, but unfortunately, that is often not the case.

Eagle isn't that far from me. I'll go crash into his Mercedes, how's a felony going to damage my grad student pay? Half of zero is still zero...

I guess the rationale is that he's so influential that his troubles would spill over to thousands. "When Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."
