Back-to-back to the Future

And no, it's not a slow day at work, not with ten machines to install / upload / patch / run security checks on. And that doesn't include the half-dozen whose records got zero'd in the database by some yo-yo while I was out.

"Work slows down around the holidays". Bullmuffins. The only people who can say that are the ones who get federal holidays off.

That made me think of this old bit of whimsy, which I'll repeat despite its woefully outdated and inaccurate statistics:

The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired. That leaves 133 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school, which leave 48 million to do the work. Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government. And since we KNOW they don't do a ruddy thing, this leaves 19 million to do the work.

Four million are in the Armed Forces (i.e. let's soak up more tax dollars while we play "Doom"), which leaves 15 million to do the work.

Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Government and that leaves 200,000 to do the work.

There are 188,000 in hospitals, so that leaves 12,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 11,998 people in Prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

And you're sitting there sending me jokes.

No wonder I'm tired!

They are wasting their time anyway. I have the Higgs-boson particle in a jar on my shelf.

I *so* want there to be a USS HIGGS, so there can be a Higgs bosun.

Just be thankful that you don't have dozens of computer labs to reimage that ALL have different software installed and different parameters set!

As for the image: I'm sure that, given the right amount of bread dropped on the head-sinks, it'll explode just fine...
