my brain is trying to kill me

I don't think I've had more than five hours of sleep in a night yet this week. One or two days I can shrug off, but right now my fuzzy white butt is dragging on the carpet.

3:10 AM, four mornings in a row: PING! brain wakes up and starts planning the day. Some of it is stuff I'm worried about, some is stuff I'm excited about, but once the wheel starts turning, there's no sense doing anything but getting up and getting started. Yergh. Even the beagle looks at me like "What the hell are you doing up at this time of night?"

Shikata ga nai. My Wife wonders why I chose Sleepy John as a handle. Ha.

I have a similar problem with insomnia.

Wake up, at early hours, and start planning/worrying about what I have to do tomorrow. I've never been able to really sleep very well.

However, I've found a couple things that help:
3mg of Melatonin (which helps to a very small extent)
However, I've recently started taking
Rhodiola Rosea ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhodiola_Rosea ) and found that one capsule before bed will give me a much greater chance of sleeping through the night. It doesn't always work, but I've found myself sleeping until 5AM instead of 3-4AM.

I have to confess, I was rather surprised that I *could* sleep through the night. It's available at health food stores. Your milage may vary of course.

And if that doesn't work try this:

Wow! Evidence that people made silly, self-indulgent movies before the Internet and YouTube existed.
