An idiot's luggage

Analysis of 32 million actual passwords snarfed in a data breach at Rockyou.com.  The ten most popular passwords:

1. 123456
2. 12345
3. 123456789
4. Password
5. iloveyou
6. princess
7. rockyou
8. 1234567
9. 12345678
10. abc123

No wonder identity theft is growing so fast.  I'm just surprised that '********' didn't make the list.

Well, 6 and 7 aren't so bad, except that their popularity is now public. (Contrary to TV Tropes, not everything's better with princesses.)

No "swordfish"? Must be the nine letters.

That's why my passwords are leet speek and in a foreign language.

Which works well now that some systems are asking for passwords that include non alpha-numeric characters. :)

I favor passwords like "1tw1lgwlwhmi1lcoteo1ldf", which is not hard to remember if you can recall stories like "Once there was a little girl who lived with her mother in a litte cottage on the edge of a large, dark forest." And I've never used that one, so don't get any ideas about hacking my bank account.
