The Aussie Catholic Church, determined to bring piety, respect, and sanctity to the Australian people, has banned pop music and footy songs at funerals.

a Catholic funeral should never be "a celebration of the life".

I guess there'll be a lot a people skipping the funeral and heading right for the wake.  Way to go, Catholic Church, you'll be able to drop those big draughty buildings and move into much cozier and cheaper accommodations any day now.

Let me know how that piety and respect thing plays out Down There, OK?

Well, as much as I hate funerals I doubt I'll attend my own funeral. :=3

anyway, the way I look at it; if the good die young, I'll live forever. ;=3

While I'm not convinced the archbishop is correct, you'd have to be not just impious but a real petty jackass to skip a funeral just because you don't like the music. Or to decrease your donations to the church for the same reason.

The Archbishop hasn't got a hope; Father Bob is against him.
