Amish Phishing.

You know the joke about the Amish Computer Virus, which is an email that doesn't do anything but politely requests you to erase your own files?

I just got an Amish phishing attack: a bogus email message from a bogus company, but in TEXT instead of HTML, so the http link to the bad-guy site was spelled out  http://not.where.you.think.it.is/badnews.exe

I think it's hysterically funny, in a sad geeky way.

You realize that the text becomes clickable in LJ, right?

yes, which is why that's not the URL that was in the phishing mail.

Oddly, "not.where.you.think.it.is" is a legitimate site...
